Mr Berry recommended Mr Deakin as fitted to assume the leadership of the party. Seamen's. Union held their meeting last night to consider whether- they should not join tke laborers striking. There was yery large attendance./Eventria"lly it wds decided to invite the cooperation of the Seamen's Unions, New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland, and New Zealand, and if a favorable reply was • received from them to strike after twenty-four hours. It is expected that if the seamen s;o out the cooks will follow their example. Great hostility is being manifested towards the firm of Howard Smith and Sons by whom it was proposed to boycott, l.
