A report was m circulation m New Plymouth on Saturday that a fracas had occurred at White Cliffs between Titokowaru's people and the police. .'The Taranaki Herald's Ureuui correspondent, however, furnishes the following particnlaiß of the affair;— Titokowaru and bis Atua party on arrival nt Puker- ! auhe (White Cliffs) on Thursday, camped his Natives on their old spot, near the Native settlement. After pitching tents, all went up to the A.C. camp, where Titokowar.u nude * speech s*yiu«j they were going to sleep there for the night. The Natives paraded about the place and then went back to their camp. About sundown a party of. about 20 came back and pitched a tent on the hill, about 15 or 20 yards from the block house. It was quietly pulled down by the civil police, and the native* were told that none of them would b* allowed to camp there. The Nativ«» offered no resistance or violeuce but immediately returned to their camp. The pnrty who pitched the tent, the Herald's correspondent stated, are som» of Malmuke'u lot (Ngatimaniapeto) whoare regular Te Whitis. Several of them walked into the schoolroom at the* A.C. camp, but they were ordered out. The Natives are on their way back to Parihaka. They were at Wnitara last night, and will probably bt through tbii town to-day.
