A sentence of death has been issued agunst all thu rabbits m the colony, wnether they are at large or keDt m confinement. When the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1832, was pissed it was to bo m force for a period of three years, and was applicable to the whole colony. The t*m» rabbit, or rabbits kept m confinement, were then exempted from the operation of the Act by the 27th clause, which waa as follows :— " Nothing m this Act contained shall be construed to render if imperative on any person to destroy any rabbits kept by him m eagas or similar enclosures m close confinement, or to authorise the destruction of such rabbits without the consent, of the owner thereof." During last session of Parliament there waa an Act passed for the oontinuance of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1882, and m this Act the section we have quoted was expressly repealed, bo that all rabbits, whether kept m confinement or otherwise, are liable to destruction, and it becomes a punishable offence tor keeping these pets. The Sheep Inspector, who is the local Inspector under the Rabbit Nuisance Act, is taking steps to enforce tluti unpleasant part of the last Beg- - sion's legislation.
