Among; the details of tUe, recent insurrection m Rouraelift the following curious incident figures :— There is an ancient Bulgarian custom which provides that the dethroning of a ruler shall be done by a woman. Accordingly the insnrgents on the 19th of September inarched into Plrilippopoliß headed by a girl of sixteen, who rode before them, armed with sabre and revolver. They went to the Governor's ; the girl walked into tht* residence, and-awakened G-avril Pasha, telling him that <he waß arrested by the Provincial Government. Mean* while, m, the courtyard, Major Pilon addressed the troops and proclaimed the union with Bulgaria. The deposod Governor was conducted to his carriage escorted by the girl who had a drawn sword m her hand. She took her seat beside him, and under military guard she* saw him carried safely beyond the Bulgarian frontier.
