Messrs Snelson & Co.'a Karcre stock sale was proceeding as we wont to. press. There was a good attendance of settlors, and the yards were well filled with stock. The f nner;»] of the wife of his Honor Mr Justice Johnston took place yesterday afternoon at Chrislchurch, and was largely attended by the personal friends of the family, as well aa by gentlemen connected with the legal profession. Mr Williams, Chemist, publishes an inset m this issue to which the attention of the public is directed. Messrs Wollitnan and Hutchison are displaying their Christmas stock which comprises an unusually large and choice assortment of specialities for the ap proaching season. A visit to this wellknown establishment would repay those who are purchasing for the holidays. Special attention is directed to an extensive advertisement nppearhur i» fourth page inserted by Messrs Tiiigey painters and decorators. The best Almanac advertisement we have yet teen is that published by Mr Pringle. The picture on the card represents the coining King" hunting (taking it rather easy over a fence) The sketch, however, is surrounded with a number of saddles, bridles, &c, making up a good business picture.
