(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, Thursday. Mr David Scannell is gazetted a judge of the Native Land Court. The appointment of Mr Walter do Gex Reeve to the Agricultural and Forest Department is gazetted. The following notice is gazetted : — Goods consigned for exhibition at the Colonial and Indian Exhibition to bo held m London m 1880, will be carried free on New Zealand Railways, provided that they shall be so carried at the solo risk of the consignors, and that each package shall be consigned to the secretary to the New Zealand commissioners of the Colonial and Indian Exhibition at either Auckland, Wellington, Port Chalmers, or Lyttelton, and marked legibly " for exhibit' at the Colonial and Indian Exhibition," and that loading and tin loading shall be done at the expense of the consignors. Auckland. Friday. The New Zealand Timber Company's mill at Davenport was discovered to be on fire at nine o'clock last night. There is no water supply m the district, and consequently the whole establishment and stock of timber was destroyed. The loss exceeds £2000. Insurance, £7000 m the Norwich Union. [There is evidently some mistake m the transmission of the above figures. Probably the correct reading would moan £2000 over the insurance of a loss.— En. M. S.
