The Lyttelton Times states that a fire at Rangiora on Sunday week was wilfully caused by a precocious youngster, aged 8, with an idea of making money thereby. He had been told by some one that five shillings was paid lo any person ringing the bell on the occasion of a fire, and determining to earn the reward he set fire to the poultry-house, and then scuttled away at top speed to . the fire brigade station to give the alarm. It is needless to say, (remarks the Times) that his insenuity did not meet with tho reward he anticipated ; but, on the contrary, it is likely that it will result m hia beinf* sent to liurnham, this not being the first of his pranks. A general meeting of the Dramatic Club will be held to-morrow evening to consider the question of tho new Choral Society just established as affecting the interests of the Dramatic Club or otherwise, a full attendance is requestod.
