Scene m the Wellington R. M. Court.

Th«re was a lively scene m the Boident Magistrate's Court recently b»tween Mr Wardell R.M., and Mt H. S. Fitzharbert. Mr Fitzherbert was engaged iv a civil case, and was examining a witness when Mr JelHco* made »n objection to a question, and "the point was ruled against Mr Fitzherbart. Thereupon the latter gentleman quoted a rnliug by Mr Wardell of a few days before, and submitted that it must apply m this case. After a rather sharp discussion, Mr War.loll objecting to Mr Fitzherbert's lino of argmneut as, to previous ruling this matter dropped. Soon after his Worship decided against Mr FitzhfM-bert on another question, and Mr Fitzheibert nnmiatakeably expressed Ins surprise at tho ruling. Mr Wardell resented this, and expressed his. intsution not to allow Mr Fitzherbert to shrug his shoulders at the Court m thai manner. It was very unpleasant, his Worship said, to sit there and be insulted, and he did not inteud to do it. Mr Fitzherbert said he dtd not car* to have rulings given against hub one day and reversed when he raised them an* other day. Mr Wardell.: •• If you repeat that I shall order you to leave the Court. Mr Filzherbert : "I' was" — "Mr Fitzherbert," interjected his Worship, " doot try to have the last word.'* Mr Fitzherbert said he wished to say what he meant was that he was quit* aura his Worship would not reverse bis decisions m that way. " Oh," said hi* Worship, "I am Had you say that. Now let us get on with the case quietly.'*
