Manchester Road Board.
An ordinary "meeting of the above Bo.ird was held ou Saturday. PresentWardens Macarthur, Bailey, Lethbridge, Linton and Whibley. T lie minutes of the previous meeting wore read and confirmed. Correspondence was read as lows:--W. Bly .and E. T. Strawbridge, re transfar of seetiou No. 37, M alii no- road. From Colonial Treasurer, acknowledging receipt of share of Oroua county debeuture. From Manawatu Road Board, re ex petiditure of money «n the Buunythovpe road. From A. Bell, asking that the Board fill iv the ruts on the Mnngaone-road. From the Public Works Department, re Roads and Bridges Construction Act. From Wanganui Hospital and CharitI abie Aid Board, applying for proportion of hospital expenses payable by the Manchester Road Board— £2o 19s sd.— and also asking for estimate of amount required for charitable purposes. From J. H. Hankius, solicitor, re Adsett's case. From H. Arlsett, asking the Boaid to fell bush on Reid's-liue, an he wished to fence his land. From J. Nathan and Co., re rates. From Kiwitea Road -Board, <, asking for payment of amount expended by that Board on Wilson's line. The clerk was instructed to reply that the Board had no funds at present, and that its promise was only to pay the money next Mnrch, ov thereabouts. Proposed by Warden Macarthuv, sec onded by Warden Linton, " That Mr Nathan b« informed, m answer to his lftter, that unless he. pays the court fees incurred m respect of rates on section 5, Manchester Block, the Board will place the property m the hands of tho registrar to recover tho same." — Curried. Proposed by Warden Lethbridge, seconded, by Warden Linton, " That the request contained m W. Bly and E. T. Strawbridge 's letter re. transfer of sec tion No. 37,' be complied with."—Carried. Warden Whibley moved and Warden Linton seconded, "That Mr Adsett be permitted to fell bush on R-.'id's line on the Board's usual terms."- -Carried. Proposed by Warden L- thbridge' seconded by Warden Linton, " That this Board estimates its expenditure under the Charitable Aid, Board at ten ponnds for 'tun- next four months and that a cheque for half the amount be forwarded to the United District Board." — Carried. Proposed by Warden Macarthur, seconded by Warden Linton, " That a cheque for £20 19s 5d be forwarded to the District Board as this Board's contribution for hospital maintenance." — Carried. Proposed by Warden Lethbridge, and ssconded by Warden Linton, " That a committee consisting of the Chairman, Wardens Bailey, Whibley, and Lethrfiri3g T o"Hifeel~on tile >"l9ilr lnstant to. open, tenders for the Gorge bridge, to accept or otherwise, three to form a quorum, and, with power to pay any accounts submitted."— Carried. The usual accounts were passed for payment and the Board adjourned.
