Messrs Laery and Campell report that business has been somewhat slacker since the last report, but perhaps not more so than is general at this time of the year, as the number of holidays interfere with business sadly. In flour, for guaranteed well-known brands, we quote iB to £8 10s per ton ; whole chickwheat, 2s 9d to 3s ; bran, £4 10s ; pollard, £g to £5 10s ; maize, 4s ; oats, good feed sampler 2s 4(1 ; oatmeal, ill ; butter, for fresh, we would quote about 7d to Bd, with little enquiry,, but m salt butter there has been more signs of vitality lately, and 8d to 9d per ft may bo quoted ; bacon and hams, Bd, but the demand is languid, new cheese, 5Jd to o£d; lard, 6d ; old potatoes are now quite unsaleable, with the stocks on, hand spoiling ; new potatoes still main* tain about £5 15s to £6 per ton ; there are no onions m the market ; hay, £4 » chaff, £4 to £i 10s per ton : poultry still continues m good- demand ; eggs may now be quoted at la 2d to 1b 3d per doz.
