WOODVILLE v. PALMERSTON HOVERS.

This match took place on Saturday on the old cricket ground, and resulted, after a well contested game, m .a victory for the home team by four wickets. The visitors were the first to handle the willow and were disposed of for 44, (Seymour 14). The Rovers did not do so well, and w.ere dismissed for 31, (Luxford 10). Before commencing the second innings both teams adjourned to Host WalKley's who had provided an excellent lunch. Play was resumed at 2*45, the visitors again taking the bat, but runs, owing to the lumpy state of the ground, were difficult to make, and the innings closed for a total of 37. . This left the home team 51 to win, which they managed to obtain with the loss of 6 wickets (Salmon not out 10, Jackson 19). Luxford's bowling was the feature of the day. The visitors left by coach at 5.30.
