The Wellington Woollen Manufacturing Company.
LAYING THE . FOUNDATION STONE. '(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, Saturday. The ceremony of laying the f ounda- • tion stone of the factory of the Wellington Woollen Manufacturing Company took place to-day at Petqne, and was a great success. The weather was delightful, and the train arranged for the company carried 400 people to; the site of the factory, including the Premier, and the Hons. Ballanoe, Buckley, Larnach. and Bichardson. There could not have been less than 500 persons present when the ceremony took place. The chairman of the company, Mr T. K. McDonald,, made a brief speech, at the conclusion of which he presented the Hon. Mr Stout with a silver trowel and mallet suitably inscribed. > The Premier made a capital speech which was well received. The proceedings throughout were marked with the greatest enthusiasm, and the Priemer, at-the conclusion of his speech, called for three cheers for the architect and builders, which were heartily responded to. Subsequently a \ luncheon took place, Mr McDonald pre siding. The whole affair was admirably managed, and passed off most successfully. .;
