Sir Henry Thompson, m a very recent article on " Diet m Relation to Age and Activity," avows that lie has been for some years compelled by facts which are constantly coming before him to accept the conclusion that* mora mischief m the form of actual disease of impaired vigor, and of shortened life accrues to the civilised man," so far as „he has observed m our own country, and throughout "Western and Central Europe, " rroni erroneous habits m eating, than from the haMtual use of alcoholic drink ; " considerable |as he knows <he evil of that to be.
