the Koads and Bridges Construction Act had been repealed no further grants would be made under its provision, unless for the completion of bridges commenced under the Act, and wh'ch if not completed would be quite useless. No grants could therefore bo made to the Board tor applications of 30th June last, for no bridges weie m the position mentioned.- ' A further letter was read m. reply to letter asking that the Governor should exercise the powers conferred on hitn m section j.85 of the Counties Act, 1876, and thereby compel the local body with-* m whose district the Fitzlierbert EastBoad,is to complete construction of same,: -that the Department was directed to enclose \copy ,of letter 1 sent to Manchester Road Board and copy of letter received m reply, and to ask an expression of opinion on the subject.
