1 (Continuation ot Report.) Scholarship Regulations.— On resuming at 2 o'clock the Beard then, went on to consider the regulations as drawn up by the Inspector, and as amended by the Scholarships Committee. The second clause, as amended by the committee, to allow of candidates from any school or schools going up for both junior and senior scholarships, was, passed as amended. The fourth clause was altered to read that no scholarshipholder should he allowed to hold more than one scholarship, and no scholarshipholder should be allowed to compete again m the same class. ClauseTwns altered so as to allow of the candidates sending m their names to the Board jas well as the head -teacher. Clause ,5 was amended to allow scholarshipholders £20 if attending at a school while residing at home, and .£4O if the holder could nofe. stay at home. An amendment was carried reducing the percentage m particular subjects which would cause failure m the senior scholarships f rpm 35 to 30 .. . per cent., and m the junior from 30 to 25 por cent. The report, as amended, l was then adopted. Sanson.-— The committee asked for £9 for a urinal. Granted. Bulls. — Mr Stevens said that as by the plans children from one room would hare to pass through another occupied by a senior class, the local committee would like the contractor to have the v power to put m an extra door before the additions were completed. Referred to the architect. Soirnor, Management.— -The Inspector wrote drawing attention to the faults m the present system of school management, owing to, the under officering of the sch'-.pls. .* - \ Mr Ross suggested a committee to investigate the matter. He was aware the Board would have to consider the scale of payments. ; T Mr Sanson moved that Messrs Baker, Carson, Bridge, arid the. mover, be a . committee to draw up recommendations for the Bo:ivd. It was desirable that a change be made. Mr Stevens seconded. He thought it would be desirable that a copy of the Inspector's recommendations be sent to each of tlie members of the Board. It a]>peared to him that the recommendation would really entail an, increase of expenditure. '' - " The resolution was put and carried. Pupil Teacher Examinations.— -The 1 Wellington Board wrote suggesting uniform papers for the examination of pupil teachers. ■-.:■■• Mr Bridge thought that this would not be any use unless the whole of the naiiftrs; were examined afterwards by one person. • Referred to the Inspector for his ■• opinion. •WAnganui. — The application of the 1 School Committee re the mumps was then road.. The Board .could not agree to the request that tlie previous month's averages should be taken. • MoirroA. — Th? sschool, it was resolved, should be reducedto the position of an aided schoo 1 : After considering other small matters the Board adjoiirned till 7.30, when it went into Committee to consider the In. spector's report on the schools examined. On' resuming, it was reported that the committee had made the following recommendations (which" were approved) with regard to the schools named :— ' Crofton :The teacher (Mr Delaney) to receive three months'notice. Riverton : Mr Thornourn (the teacher) to receive three months' notice. . Matarawa and Makino Road : Letters to be sent to the committee re poor results, and recommending that the ' teachers receive notice of dismissal. •• Porewa, Feilding, and Bulls : Letters to be sent to the head teachers, through' the committees, stating that the boaixTis very dissat : sfied with the results of the ' recent examinations, and stating that if better results are not apparent by next year, the board may deem it necessary to give the teachers three months' notice of termination of engagement. Mosstown and Campbelltown : Letters to be sent drawing attention to poor results. Special Meeting of tiie Boaim).-— Resolved— That a special meeting of the Board be held on the 13th October to consider the replies of the committees witlf regard to the unsatisfactory schools and other business.
