Meeting of Creditors.

The first meeting of creditors m the estate of P. J., Miller, hairdresser, Feildihg, was held .m the courthouse, Feilding, on Saturday, at 2 p.m. "The debtor was examined on oath at considerable length by the deputy assignee.. He stated that m March last he went to Palmei-ston, and started as a hairdresser m premises belonging to Mr Fenton ; that the business did not pay him ; that when lie heard of Mr Bellve, of Feildirig, ; building a billiard—rom, he applied and got the lease of the room, and also a shop, for twelve months, at a rental of £8 per weelc ; that he paid this heavy rent for a week or two, but finding it would be impossible to continue payment, he got Bellve' to reduce the rent td £2 par week. On his failing to pay the reduced rent, Bellve cancelled the lease. The debtor left, debts behind him m Palrnersfcon, but part of those he had since .paid. He lost £5 by a footrace, but the money was not taken from the basiness. No one was pressing him but Bellve. The iirst of Messrs Scott's bills would fall due on the 30th inst., and he debtor) had no money to -meet it. He could make' no offer to his creditors. On examination by the deputy assignee, debtor's; books showed that his receipts since hs started m June last came to £119 17s 6d, while his disbursements tor the same period amounted to £113 2s 9d.
