Football.
On Saturday evening a meeting of footballers was held to consider the susrgestion of the Manawatn Club, as to sending away a combined team to Wellington. It was resolved that while Wanganui would not send a team, it would assist Manawatu m sending one, to be called the Manawatu team. Several names were handed m as likely to go, including thoa-s of Messrs Gray, Craig (2), Coghill and Walker. Others who would have gone are interested m the Fire Brigade competition, and cannot get away. The secretary was instructed to communicate the decision of the meeting to the Manawatu Club. While on football matters, we may say that a good scratch match was played on Saturday afternoon. Next Saturday a match, Town v. Country, will be played, and it is probable that for the Saturday following, arrangements will be made to play Hawera, while the second fifteen may meet the Waverloy team on the same day. —Herald,
