Wairarapa Stock Markets.
Mr F. H. Wood says the Wairarapa , Standard) may be congratulated on his inaugural fortnightly stock sale held at Mr Kay's yards, Taratahi, on Thursday. All the yards were filled with stock ; the small paddocks atljo'ning had to be called into requisition, a much larger number of stock coming forward than ha 1 been entered. The attendance of buyers was good, and all lots offered were cleared at very satisfactory prices, both sheep and cattle being m good demand. Prices realised were as follows : — Sheep — hoggets, 8s"to 8s Gd ; ewes andjllambs, 12a Cd to 16s 3d (the latter being' for an exceptionally fine lot) ; ewes m lambs, 10s :' Gil to 12s. Cattle—yearlings, mixed, 35s ; ; 2-yr-old steers and heifer-, i' 2 lGs to £4 '4s ;'3 yr-old steers, £5 ; cows, £3 to £0 .•ss-.; stags, £4 2s Gd to £5. Horses — •<l»icUß, '£5 10s to £8 10s. Pigs, (weaners), •4s"9rf,t6 6s ; store do, 28s. Prior to the" s 'c6'm'liienceLncnt of the sale Mr Wood • autipunced that the erection of new yards would at once be ] rocee ed with, and the sale for the future held fortnightly.
