(to the editor of the standard.) Sir,— ln Mr Ferguson's speech at the Indignation Meeting, he referred to the •'thriving state" m which Palmerston now is. At least such are his remarks m your paper. I. am glad there is one m the place who finds it to be m a " thriving state." I only wish it were more thriving. I never saw things so fearfully dull, and what the end is- to be nobody knows.
