Narrow Escape.

A little fellow of some four years, son bf Mr Jas. Weight had a very narrow escape from drowning a few days ago. It appears the child was playing with a greyhound near a well at the rear of the house and while holding the dog up by the fore-feet was pushed over the brickwork some six feet below and into the same depth of water. The boy clung to the dog m his fall carrying it with him \vheu just at the same moment Mrs Weight happening to go into the yard heard a stiflied cry from the well and was horrified m looking over to see her child struggling m the water with the dog. Quick almost as lightening and with wonderful presence of mind the mother secured a ladder and descended just m time to save her offspring from a. horrible death. The lady had to immerse herself to her waist before she could lay hold of the boy and narrowly escaped her- own life. The necessary appliances for restoration were administered to the boy immediately he was brought; up which soon brought hini round. Tho prompt action Ot the mother on the occasion n;o doubt saved the life of her child and she is deserving of the highest praise for v the presence of mind she displayed and which had such a. successful, result.
