Waitara News.
'(Corres-pdndent of Hawera Star.) Over 7000 sheep have been shipped from the port of "Waitara from the 3rd to the 25th of this month. The appliances are all but perfect for the shipping of stock, and with the large trade that is done now at the port, I hope that the Harbor Board will obtain another loan, to complete the work at the south head, and go on deepening the river. Harrows will be used shortly for that purpose, and with the ; increased depth of .water, we may look forward to much larger steamers trading to our port. There are .over fifty men and boys now employed upon the freezing works here, ; and it is expected m a very short time thatithe company will be able to put on double that quantity At the present timoi there are 25 bullocks and 130 sheep killed per day. : Tlie building trade is brisk here ; orders cannot be executed under three : weeks, and several houses cannot be commenced owing to the pressure of work at the mills, and not being able to execute orders 1 quick enough. •
