The Radcliffe-Rita Company.
The Sydney Mail hßS thafollowing in reference to these talented •who; appear before a Palmerston audienoe this evening:— To say more of Mr Badcliffs playing .than was heartily given m the Mail after his first appearance is hardly 'possible ; superlatives exhaust thouaselves m praise of his admirable .technique, his purity of tone",\tho superb quality and enormous^ power of sound which he evokes from' the various instruments, and m the delicious waves of music m the scales which seem as an accompaniments to many of the melodies. On Monday he played as one inspired and elicited plaudits which m their fervour and intensity are rarely equalled m the city. In the brilliant fantasias on the solo cylinder flute he held his listeners spellbound. . Nor was Madame Pauline Eita less fortunate m the impression produced by her vdpal efforts ; each song for which her name- was set down was vociferously encored, For the first, Madame Bita, gave with singular oharm and with flute accompaniment for the first time m Sydney •• Sing, sweet Bird," m -which the ornamental vocal passages were echoed by the flute with wonderful accuracy and delightful effect ; for the second, Madame Eita sang a dashing Mexican melody, and when her hearers •were entranced with delight by her rendering of " Lo, here the gentle Lark," she executed with marvellous skill the variations on " The Carnival of Venice," composed expressly tor her by Sir Julius Benedict, m which her;masfcery-of— ther J art. of coloratur wasreyeaiedih the most i perfect manner, and received with a furore of soclamation from the large assembly. Flowers m profusion accompanied the plausts. It is needless for us to add any words of oura to such criticisms as these beyond a recommendation to our readers not to allow such an opportunity for hearing high-class music to pass by unheeded.
