Waste Lands Board.

The usual fortnightly meeting of tho Wellinston Waste Lands. Board was held on Thursday. Present — Messrs H. Bunny (m the chair), T. Mason, W- W. MeCardle, G. Beetham, M.H.R., and W. A. -Fitzherbort. Six sectioni, comprising 942^ acres, had been taken up on deferred payment' and perpetual lease m the Mangaone and Manpahao blocks since last meeting of the Board. ;■ The Under-Secretary of Crown Lands wrote to the Board, statin? that no for mal action was required to seperate sections 2 and 3, block X., Mangaone, and that any person could take up either Kiction. The owner 6t section 28, block V., Kopnranga, applied to have the price ot the section reduced to £2 10s per acre, as he could not meet his instalments. The Board decided that it had no power to make the reduction asked for, but agreed to give the selector further time to pay his instalments. A memorandum from the Under-Sec-retary of Crown Lands was read, stntiug that the Minister of Lands did not consider that the Department should undertake thft- responsibility of informing deferred -payment selectors that they could effect a saving by capitalising their unpaid instalments. A resolution was passed, on the motion of Mr Beetham, seconded by Mv Mason, that the Board saw no reason to alter its opinion, as it considered that the matter came within its province, and that the resolution previously passed by the Board should b« carried out. A memorandum from the Under-Sec-retary of Crown Lands was read, stating that the Crown Lands Banger for tho Hawke's Bay and Wellington districts would commence his duties about the end of the month. The Under-Secretary for Crown Lands wrote, asking the Board to decide when the Hunterville township would be offered for sale, as applications were being made to purchase the land. The matter was allowed to stand over till next meeting.
