SPORTING NEWS.
The Steeplechase meeting to be held at the Hutt on the 18th Joly next promises to be a good one. The events are : — A Trial Steeplechase Handicap of 80 soys ; Hurdle Handicap of 100 sovs ; Local Hurdle Handicap of 30 sovs; Wellington Steeplechase Handicap of 150 sovs ; a Selling Hack Hurdle Race, and a Consolation Handicap. This is a programme which will, no doubt, attract many of the best " fencers " in the Colony, and a thorough good day's sport may be expected. Nominations- are due on the 24th of this month, weights on the 25th, and the acceptances on the Bth July.
