Manchester Road Board.

The usual monthly meeting of the Manchester Road Board held at the Board's office Feilding on Saturday, June Bth, 1885. Wardens present — Messrs Macarthur (chairman), Bailey, Linton, Lethbridge, and Grammar. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. The following correspondence was read : — From Messrs Wratt and Goldfinch, request; n»- the Board to take steps to have the drain in front of their property cleaned out. From J. Moeller, requesting, alteration in rat ■. book. From R. Neilsen, requesting that a slaughtering license bo granted to him to kill on section 14*2, suburban, Hal combe. Proposed by Mr Linton, seconded by Mr Whibley— That Mr Macarthur be appointed Chairman of the Board for tun ensuing year. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Macarthur, seconded by Mr Linton — That Mr P. Anderson's name be substituted for C. Moeller on the rate book for sections 115 and 11G, Halcombe, suburban North. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Linton, seconded by Mr Whibley— That R. Neilsen be allowed a license to slaughter cattle on section 142, Halcombe. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Macarthur, seconded by Mr Whibley — That the Chairman apply to the Government for the balance of the money required for the Gorge bridge. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Linton, seconded by Mr Whibley — That Mr C. Bray'sjunr. resignation of the post as collector to the Board be accepted. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Maoarthur, seconded by Mr Linton — That the Engineer call for tenders for putting 250 loads of approved metal on the Stanway road.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Linton, seconded by Mr Whibley— That Mr McCrea be al lowed a man for 12 days to make th* road passable to his place. One of the maintenance men. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Linton, seconded by Mr Lethbridge — That Mr C. Bray, senr. t be appointed collector to the Board.— Carried. That the Chairman write to the Bail ■ way Manager re the overflow of water pn railway near Bailey's mill and branch line leading to Adaett's mill. — Carried. ! Proposed by Mr Lethbridge, seconded by Mr Bailey — That a notice be inserted in the papers stating that if the rates be not paid w : thin one month from this data a certain number of defaulters' nan.es will be drawn by lottery and summoned for each Court day. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Linton, seconded by I Mr Whibley — That Mr Haase receive a grant of £4 as charitable aid. — Carried. Accounts amounting to £470 7s 9d were passed for paymant.
