Daring Bank Robbery.

(REUTERS 1 TELEGRAM-). I Melbourne, Wednesday. A most daring robbery was committed this morning about ten o^clock at" Simpson's Road branch of the National Bank of Australasia, which had been closed yesterday i afternoon with no money on the pre- 1 mises. On the arrival of Humphries, the manager of the branch, accompanied by Bradshaw, his clerk, from the chief establishment bearing LI OOO, both were at-i tacked by three masked men, two of whom presented revolvers whilst the third brandished a crowbar, Humphries was overawed by the sudden attack and threatening manner of the robbers. Both officials were knocked down, and.their hands securely strapped behind their backs. The managers revolver was then taken from his person, and the robbers decamped with oPIOOO, leaving their victims laying helpless onthe ground. Humphries and Bradshaw were subsequently released by a passer-by. Information of the robbery was immediately given to the police. The number of the notes stolen are not known. Later. The total amounttaken by the robbersf rom the Simpson's Roacl bank officials is £11 85, of which 4?955 is inm»tes, £ 1 00 m gold, and the balance m silver. No clue has yet been discovered as to the identity of the robbers. The number of the notes cannot be ascertained.
