The Mysterious Murder at St. Louis.

The San Francisco papers refer to the mj'sterious St. Louis murder for which St. Ahgnie was arrested here on the City of Sydney on the alleged charge of committing it. A headless body, registered as C. Arthur Prelle., London, was found m a trunk m a St. Louis hotel on the ' I3th of April. When the trunk was opened the body of a middle aged man was found doubled up m it. On the side of the trunk and over the head of , the corpse was printed iv large letters the woi'ds " So perish all traitors to the great cause." The body presented a horrible aspect, and was m an advanced slate of (lccoiupoisition. The personal effects m tlie murdered man's trunks indicaictl that the owner was a gentleman of means and culture. His room mate was jWalter Lennox - Maxwell, who is accused- ot the murder, also an ' Englishman and a Frenchman. The Maxwell* are residing on an estate at Drummcllu, : Ireland. One of the men had disappeared and the detectives learned that he left San Francisco m disguise on the steamer City of Sydney under the name of Danqiiiae Preller. Tlie murdered man bolouged to the Plymouth Brethren, and had strong religious principles.
