Volunteer Intelligence.
The following is the copy ot the circular which has been issued from the Defence Office, and which may prove of interest to volunteer officers : — Defence Office, Wellington, 11th May, 1885,— Sir, — I am instructed by the Hon. the Defence Minister to request you will intimate to officers m command of corps, that the refund of customs duties, hitherto allowed, is discontinued, and corps obtaining uniforms, etc., from Home must be prepared to pay all duties and charges m connection with their import. I have further to request, you will at the same time inform officers commanding corps, that the free issue of ser^e suits or the i?l compensation, m lieu there of is also stopped, and undress uniforms if required must, bo procured at the expense of the corps. — I am, &c, H.
