Waste Lands Board.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the "Wellington Waste Lands Board was held on Thursday. Present — Mr Marchant (Commissioner of Crown Lands, m the chair), Messrs Mason, Bunny, i Fitzherhert, Beetham, and McCardle. The Chairman reported that no-land had beeu sold since last meeting of the J3oard. The following selectors applied for i permission to transfer their deferred - payment sections : P. Palmer, section 29, block 6,Pohangina, to E. Brodfcvick ; J. H.Bnrmeißter,Bfction 1589, Kairauga, to James Befl ; E. Carr, section 30, b'oek 9, Pohangin«, to J. H. Stevens.. The transfers were approved by the Board, subject to the usual conditions being complied with. The Chairman recommended that the following amounts be applied for to open up roads through the various blocks:— Tokomaru, Li 00 0; Waitapu and Otamakapua, L 500 0; Pohangina, L2OOO ; Makuri and Tiraumea, LSOOO ; Pahint ua, Mangaone, L 200 0; Kopuranga, L3OOO ; Crown lands at foot of Tararua Rauge, L 150 0; Parakiki, L 8 0 ; Karewaruoa, LSOO ; Makara, LSOO ; Kawhata, LISOO ; Puketoi South and East, LSOOO. The total amount required for opening up. the various blocks would be L 105.700 ; bnt the Board decided to recommeud the amounts for the year 1885-6. The report or Mr Gr. F. Robinson, Crown Lands Ranger, was very satisfactory. Out of 53 deferred payment sections, comprising 6C33 acres m the Kai- " ranga, Arawaru, Mangahao, Pohangina, and Mangaone Survey Districts satisfactory improvements have been made, except m five cases Two were m arrears through extenuatingcircmnstances; but m the cases of M. Johansen, G. Hopkins, and J. Nicoll, it was resolved to call upon them to . show cause why j their licenses Bhould not be cancelled. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr McUardle, seconded by Mr Beetham, • f That the Governor be recommended to withdraw from lease section 98, block 11, Kopuranga, m consequence of a sottier on the next section having felled some of the bush by mistake." It was agreed that Mr Bnnny's notice of motion m reference to offering no rnoro laud for cash salo should be postponed till next meeting.
