The Hawera Church Mission.

The Church of England mission, closwl Thursday night with h thanksgiving service, during the course of which the parish was handed back to the Rev W. H. Root.- Service was commenced by the singing of a processioaal hymn, during which the clergy entered the west door of the church and advanced to the chancel, and after prayers had been -said there followed a general confessional and absolution, m accordance with, the usual form, and the congregation, a large one, repeated confirmation vows inftoken that they re-dedicated themselves* to the service of God. Curds m memory of the mission were theu distributed, but the supply was not equal to the number of person* present, and it was arranged to supply those not already supplied at seven evening. The missioner then gave his final address m which he spoke m term* of thankfulness of the success which Imd attended the effort. He said that all the trouble and labor of the mission would hare been justified had there been only a few persons benefited, but he had l»een interviewed by a large numher of- people whouaid that they had derived benefit. Under these circumstances he could but be thankful, and ho assured his hearers that to him the time had been one of pleasure. He then gave a short address on the npcossiiy of Christians standing firm to their profession, and by their lives setiinp forth the faith that was m tbrni. The Rev. Mr Root followed with an address on taking charge of the parish again, m which he wild ho believed a great deal of good had been done by "the mission, and said he hoped to see practical results.
