The arrest of Sheehan m Nevr Zealand on a ehaige of the murder of his family at Castletwwnroelie, Ireland, has had a melancholy affect, for his father-in-law has committed suicide. Major R. S. McGregor, late of the 50th Regiment., has just died at Portsmouth. He served m the NewZealand war of 1864-66, aad had a medal with clasp tor services m the Ashantee war of 1873. Mastkrto*, May 4. Mr W. H. Donald, one of tl:e oldest settlers m the district, died on Saturday night, at the age of 70 years. He was for many years a sheep inspector. Dunedin, May 4.
