Mr Justice Moleswnrth has given his decision on the Barnard betting scandal case. His opinion, is that, though the Committees first acted irregularly m the proceedings against Barnard, they afterwards acted regularly, as the rules gave them power to expel I any member guilty of conduct detrimental to the Club. On the advice of Captain Thomas, commandant of the naval forces, it has been decided to supply Queensland and Point Nepean with electric lights, m order to prevent an enemy coming m on a dark night unseen. A controversy has been carried on m the Duly Telegraph between the Bishop of Melbourne and Mr Justice Williams on the subject of Mr Justice Williams' book on. " Religion and Superstition." Sydney, April 14. Great excitement has been, caused by the capture of the prisoners Thurstou ami Angel, who recently escaped from Coonamble Gaol, and who, murdered the warder. The police having received information leading them to suppose that two men were m the neighbourhood of Gulgong, secreted themselves m Stewart's store and wait« cd the arival of the prisoners, whom they called on to surrender. Upon seeing the officers Thurston fired at Stewart, and shot him dead. The police then fired on the bushrangers, killing Thurston and wounding Angel, who has since been lodged m gaol.
