Mr Andrew Young, of Wellington* was a visitor to Palmeratou to-day. The Land Court was concluded last evening. The Jane Douglas will leave Foxton for Wellington to-morrow (Saturday) at 5 p.m. The 'Frisco mail closes this evening at a quarter to 8. We are glad to notice (says the Napier. Telegraph] i that the Timaru Times refuses now to publish telegrams containing race nominations, acceptances, and weights. During the race week it is by no means uncommon to see m a paper three columns devoted to horses' names I and reports of races, out of seven col- ! umns m all of reading matter. A week or so back there were telegraphed to us nominations for five events .of a race meeting, m which all the horses names appeared four times, each being nominftt»d for four events, and not intended to start for, probabfy, more than two.
