MR FREEMAN R. JACKSON'S FORT NIGHTLY STOCK REPORT.
"Wangasuj, April 15. The demand for stock has not been so brisk during the past fornight, the bidding at the auctions dull, and without animation. However, I succeeded m placing most of the stock offered at or after tho auctions. At the yards to-day cattle were sold at a slight i eduction m the rates lately ruling. Sheep maintained their value. A large number of horses came forward ; about one half found purchasers at the reserves placed upon them. Pigs were well competed for, all selling at good prices. Cattle. — Fat cows of very prime quality, £4 16s to £5 2s Gil ; store cows, £2 5a to £2 15s ; 3 and 2-yr-old steers, £3 10s ; 2-yr-eld, £2 10s; 18-months-olds, £1 18s ; milch cows, £4 to £5 2s 6d ; weancrs, 14s. Sheep. Fat wethers, 11s 8d ; ewes, 9s Id to 10b Id ; store wethers, 9s 2d ; old ewes, 4s 6d. Horses. — No quotable alteration m values. Pigs. — Small porkers, 14s to 16s.
