Oh Thursday night one of the large produce stores on the Pastoral Society's grounds was discovered on fire. There was a steady breeze blowing, and it was soon consumed. Shortly after the alarm a Scandinavian was seen coming from She fire, and was arrested. The prisoner states that he was shown there to sleep by the landldrd of the White Hart, and the fire awoke him. He endeavored to beat it out with a board, but the fire gained on him. Ha then went out to look for water, and discovered his own clothes on fire. Returning he found the place alight to the' roof. He then finished dressing, and Was coming up to give tho alarm at the hotel when ho was arrested, The prisoner has monov, and it is re- , ported here that owing to tho landlord refusing him a bed or shake-down he threatened to burn his house.
