(UNITED PRESB ASSOCIATION.) Dunedin, March 31. A boardingliouse at Mcßae's, known as the Temperance Hotel, was totally destroyed by fire on Thursday last. It contaiued seven rooms, and was owned and occupied by Mrs Sarah Rich. The fire broke out about 2 c'olock m the afternoon, und is supposed to have been caused by the overheating of the stove pipe m the kitchen. A man passing the house noticed a light shining beneath the front door, while all the rest of the house was m darkness Thinking this strange he looked m under the door and saw a candle burning m the midst of paper. The police were called m, when Beveral candles were found alight m the kitchen. The paper surrounding the candleß were saturated with kerosene. Attemp3 were made to prevent the lights being visiblo outside. The house was insured iv the London and Lancashire for £100 Hawker bus been arrested.
