Wellington Manawatu Railway.
\ (UNITED PREBB ASSOCIATION.) i Wellington, March 30. At the annual meeting of the Wellington Manawatu Railway Cumpauy the chairman moved the adoption of the report and balance-sheet already published. He said that during the year the company's works had progressed m a very satisfactory manner. The points which were not satisfactory were : the way m which the plant had come forward, and secondly the sale of land. The non-success of the land sale had. led to the directors opening negotiations with the Government, which resulted m the proposal that the Company should sell tun line to tho Government section by section as it was finished. It would be inconvenient to name details at present, but he might say the , proposal was merely m its preliminary stages. He asked the shareholders not to discuss the matter at the present meeting. What had appeared m the papers, while m substance true, was wanting m those details which would enable shareholders to form an accurate judgment of the transaction. A meeting of the shareholders would be called to discuss the matter at a proper time. The report was adopted. Tho election of directors was postponed for some days. Surveys are now being made.
