Wei, lingtok, March 24. : At the Magistrate's Court to-day Jacob Frankel, a dealer m second-hand articles, was committed for. trial for re. ceiving stolen; articles a few days ago. Belcher, an employe m the Education Department, was convicted of stealing | some prize books, the property of the -'Government. It was proved they were sold by accused, who made little or no inquiries regarding them, notwithstand* ing they bore the Government stamp. Bail was allowed. The extended time for receiving applications for space m the general branch of the New Zealand exhibition closes oo the 81st inst. -■•.-•:.. The Consolidated Land Bill will bo amongst the Government measures next session. It is now being drafted, and m addition to consolidating the existing land laws, it will give increased powers m regard to special settlements and other matters. , -■' ' The Government are putting a^ide W block of land, about 5000 acres, at the i south-west base of Mount JSgiabift, aj a semi-military settlement, ( T.
