Oam ABU, March 18 , To-day the Kurahika estate, comprising 55,000 acres of freehold, 20,000 acres of leasehold, and 17,000 sheep, was sold ot auction by Mr Maude to Mr Nicholls, of Dunedin, for £20,000. , Blenheim, March 18. Mr Thomas Davies' mill, formerly used for chaff-cutting, but not m operation since last winter, was burned down during Monday night. There is no insurance and the cause is unknown. The building and contents were valued at over i'loo. In this case and that of the barley stacks, burned m the same district, a few days ago, incendiarism is suspected. A flax mill on the same site has been burnt down on three previous occasions. The sly-grog selling- case against the Grovetown Hotel have been adjourned till the 26th, the defence being that the Licensing Committee acted illegally m cancelling the license. Chkistchurctt, March 18. St. Patrick's Day was celebrated by a banquet last night, which was largely attended. The weather continues very unfavorable to harvest operations. Dunedin, March 18. The body of a man has been found on the bank of the Taieri River at Nerithorn. It is believed to be that of Joseph Ivens, who was drowned m the Lee stream a short time ago. The Government have proclaimed Monday, the 23rd inst., the anniversary of the foundation of the Province, a general holiday. It has been resolved to form a company, with a capital of 480,000, to build a bridge across the upper harbor from Dunedin to Waverley. The Tainui, which arrived to-day, brought a small mail. She brings 2300 tons of cargo and 103 passengers. Her passage occupied 41 days 10 hours from London. She called at Hobart and the Cape. Auckland, March 18. A fire at Te Awamutu at 1.30 ! this' morning destroyed Lewis' hotel and eight other buildings. Total insurance, £4375. W. Sheehaa was again before ,the Police Court to-day, when Sergeant Denny, of the Royal Irish Constabulary gave evidence, and the depositions of witnesses previously taken before a magistrate m Ireland were road. One of the witnesses, a boy, m his deposition swore that he saw Sheehan and his brother-in-law Brown place the bodies m a cart, and take them to the well m which they ; were found.
