Heavy Gale m Auckland.
(U SITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, March 15. , The gale yesterday was the heaviest experienced here for many years, indicting some damage to the shipping and property. The small steamer Blanche has become a total wreck. Several yachts were damaged, the yachts Maraitai and Rita and some coasters and cutters being briven ashore. Several houses m course of erection m exposed situations m the suburbs were blown down, also some chimneys,, verandahs,* and trees. The cutter Harvey Home sunk, but the crew rescued. The coal hulk Canterowent ashpre,but is uninjured. Miss Penson, of Newton, received a fracture of the leg, and Mr.. l), L.Murdoch's coachman received fatal injuries from falling timber.
