fWaipawaJLTai^.J ; , The following new building hjive been erected or are m course of erection, m the township of Woodville, since the beginning of the present year— a ; period of ten weeks. .. The- Court-house, on the police reserve ; a saddler's shop on a section belonging to. Mr liendle iiext'Moore's shop ; a butcher's shop by Messrs Sowry Bros, and Loveday, next the Temperance hotel; a bootmaker's shop for MrBaillie,;at\vo. storied shop and building for another saddler, and two more similar shops, at present unfinished, between the Temperance Hotel and tho Abercorii Arm Hotel ; a billiard room aud.hairdresßiug saloon, next tho latter hotel,; and Messrs Jones and Lemon's blacksmith's shop. Then on the south side of Vogel-street, we find Mr W. Smith's tobacconistshop and hair-dießsing saloon and Sli ear era's cabinetmaker's shop and turnitiire warehouse. In McLeau-strset, Mr George now occupies a new shop next Mr Crawford, as a draper and outfitter ; and G, Hutchings is newly started m the fruiterer's business. Another barrister and solicitor had taken up his residence m this township during the, past feivjweeks, and quit© a .number of strangers, who have either purchased .land or intend doing so. ' Outside the township Mr Moore has erected two cottages, and Mr Jones' new dwelling is just completed. Mr v Fountain 13 erecting a handsome private dwelUug house, and Mr Duddy's residence is now finished.' Messrs Perfect, Pinfold, and. one or two other settlers have lately built new housed aud some more are 'Tinder contemplation. At the end of last tear there were several buildings that were no wly finished, 1 'such as . Mr Bliss's new bootmaker's shop ; Mr Mooie's 'enlargements ; Mr Rouutrou's sash, and ,dO6r ;factory:; Mr Crawford's new store . under Campbell's Hall, and some others. At the present time plans • / arn said to Jbave been prepared for. a now two-storey building near Mr J,. Hutching's, to be used as a sash and dodr 1 factory. Mr Bickerlon ia also contemplating an extension of the Abercorn Anns Hotel, and Mr Murphy has already prepared pl^us aud specifications for the enlargement of the Club Hotel. The additions will ib-.-. made facing the Masterton road, and will extend from the present building as far. as Baillie's bootmaker's .shop, thus giving space for ten additional bedrooms and a sitting room. These wilj t be built over the carriage-way, which wfll then be under an archway The Hotel will theu be a very handsome one, measuring over 2£ chains m length and one chain i m width, and of course two stories high. It is, said that another Bank is amongst ihe structures that are contemplated to be greeted m the township. Tho insoluble is this. If the town can growlike this m 10 weeks, what size will it bo m 10 years'time ? We dare not enter such a speculation for fear of subsequent disappointment !
