DEFERRED PAYMENTS.
"We are very pleased to learn from a Wellington paper ttiiit the Welling- . ton - Manawatu Railway Company have decided to, offe^- their land on deferred payments. 'The greater :portiori of .the money can now be paid m half-yearly instalments during- a term of Jye years, jwith 7 per cent, interest added. Had this cour.se been adopted m the first instance a greater success would have been achieved ac; tue land sale than had to be recorded. If the Company wisU ( to dispose of their lands, aud ""get them occupied, must give facilities to persons iri(h limited means* We .venture to say that when it is known that the land can bo obtained on deterred payments, the sections will be m request, even though they now hang fire for! the simple reason that- cash is demanded, when cajija there is none m the country— -at least among the proper class of settlers -wherewith to purchase. This is the plain fact. ;
