Daring Robbery at Marton.
The lpcal paper giv^s the following further particulars of the incident briefly stated m the telegram m yesterday's issue. ' A robbery of a most daring character was perpetrated at Martou on' Saturday night, about 8 o'clock. Mr Goedhue, the occupant, of a house m Oxford-street, m an isolated position,, went out for a short time. About 8 o'clock a man came to to, the front door, and asked Mrs Goodhue if her liusbaud was m. She 1 * replied m the negative. The ruffian exclaimed, " You'll do as well." He then setzed her by the throat and, pushing her back into the house, abstracted 17s from her pocket. Still holdiug her by the throat, he pushed her into the bedroom, and took frpni a work-box about £22. Mrs Goodhue struggled with all hormiglit, and pulled out a handful of the robber's whiskers, which she retaiued as a means of iden-. tifying him. He at one time got desperate at her struggles and screams, and, drawing a knife, cut her across the hand. He also bit heX He managed to escape with his plunder. Mrs Good hue's children were m bed at the time, but she immediately got one of them up, and despatched him to the Dolice-station. Constables Coyle and McLenegha'n at once took the matter m hand vigorously, but up to the time of bur going to press tire robber had not been arrested. Mr Goodhue came hotne about 20 minutes after* the perpetration of the robbery.
