An ordinary monthly meetiug of the above body was held at Feilding on. ' Saturday. Present— Wardens iMacarthiir (chairman), Lethbridge, Jones, Bailey and Linton. The minutes of the last meeting wcije read and confirmed. . > • Correspondenco : : — : From C; J. Hariisori, Marton. requesting that his name be taken from the rate-book for section A f)0, which had bee»;Sold to ifi.,J. Riddifprd. Telegram- from" .the" Government re balance of money due on account of district roads/yp > , ; From the clerk of the Rangitikei County Council for information re cost of survey work. ! From Messrs O'Hara and Gordon stating" that m. tendering for the metalling of Ulysses and VVatershed-road, , tl>eyhad valued the work at 74s per chain^or £1,774 for the whole of the work,, but.; had by mistake made out the tender for j £1,568. ■ ' Frdm the Kiwitea Road Board asking for a further expenditure* of money on j Wilson's line. ' , j | proposed by Warden Macarthur, and seconded by Warden Lethbridge, " That. Warne & Beard's request be. granted for laying a tramway alongside the Pohaugina road."— Carried. Proposed by Warden Macarthur, and 8f conded by Warden Linton, " That the \ Manchester Board will pay to the Kiwi- j tea Road Board £60 next season, on condition that the board/ complete Wilson's line this Beason."—Garried.' •;■ O'Hara & Gordon's request was then discussed, when it was proposed by Warden .Jones; and seconded by Warden Bailey, " That the board cannot consider Messrs O'Hara &• Gordon's app r licatiou, as the tender was accepted on the lump Suin."^-Camed. Prsposed by Warden Bailey, seconded By Warden Linton, "That the clerk write to the ■ District Engineer, asking • him to have the drain cleaned out alongside the railway line, leading to Adsett's mill, as the water is injuring the property of the settlers along the line."— Carried. The Chairman stated that to meet their debentures, due on Ist May, it Would be' necessary to take steps 'to strike the ordinary rate. It waß reeolved, " That notice be advertised of the intention of the Board to strike a rate of f d m >the £." The Chairman said that he had heard that Mr Adsett had issued a writ against them, and it would therefore be necessary to appoint a solicitor to defend the action. ' Jt w»8 proposed by Warden Macarthur, seconded by . Warden " Linton, " That m the event of a writ being served by .Mr Adsett. qn the board for damages done by the fire ou Reid's line m 1882, Mr J v H. Hankius be appointed the board's •solicitor to defend the action."— Carried.' Accounts were oassed to the amount of £2,996 Is, ' and the meeting ad- : journud.- /•.;■-... ' ;
