MESSRS NOLAN, ' TONES ' &-GO'S ' MONTHLY REPORT.

Hawera, JFeiv2B. During the past month a large number of cattle has passed through our hands, and stock, with one or two exceptions, still maintain last month's quotations ; but with wet weather we anticipate a rise iv all classes of store cattle. Sheep also have been iv fair demand, although few as yet have come forward. At the Ram and Sheep Fair every pen was occupied ; the attendance was good, and bidding spirited. The Shropshire rams entered by Messrs Wilson Bros, brought out good competition, and were all dieposed of at an an average of seven guineas. Lambs m wool found a ready sale at advanced rates. At Hawera on the 19th the yards were well filled, and there was a good attendance of buyers, and, with two exceptions, everything sold. At Manaia on the 26th a great many more cattle than were advertised j came forward, and prices were a shade lower than previous sales ; -most of the ! stock we quitted under the hammer. At ' Opunake we had a larger entry than usual, and a better enquiry for all classes of cattle. We quote : — Cattle. — At Hawera : Weaners, JBs to 20s ; ye.-u-Jings (mixed), 32s ; yearling steers, £2 5s ; 18-mouth steers, £2 12s 6d ; 2^-yr-old steers, £3 17s ; 3-yr-old bullocks, £5 3s ; 4-yr-old bullocks (forward), £6 ; dry cows, £2 10s ; fat cows, £4 2s 6d. At Manaia : Weaners, 16a 6d to 188 ; yearlings, 31s ; 18-month heifers, 34a ; 2-yr-old steers, £3 2s 6d ; 3-yr-old bullocks (forward), £5 Is to £5 14s 6d ; empty cow*, £2 13s 6d. At "Opunake : 18-month heifers, 35s ; yearling steers, £2 2s ; cows and calves, £2 16s ; empty cows, £2 13s ; forward cows, £3 10s ; dairy cows, £4. £Sheep. — Quote lambs m wor£ 6s to 6s 3d ; ewes, 8s to 9s ; wethers, lOu 6d to # lls. Horses. — Dull of sale, consequently few changed hands. .
