♦ • The London correspondent, of the Sydney Morning Herald notes a point or two with respect to the last New Zealand Loan that we do not remember having read of m any N*w Zealand paper. He says: — "Although tho introduction of a Nejv Zealand ■-Government Loan had i»een tor some time anticipated and discussed m financial circles, its announcement so early m the month .of January rather .startled the city folk. Conflicting rumours had for some weeks been prevalent as to the amount of impending 1 issue, some reports placing it as high as £2,500,000, and other? at £1,500,000, so that when it was found that only the modest sum of £1,000,000 was asked; lor, thorn was a decided feeling of relief on the Stock Exchange It is believed that the bulk of tb.e new stock has been secured by the investing classes to the exclusion of stock exchange operators."
