Notes from Woodvilie.
FWaipawa Mail.'] A traveller sends m the following particulars: — "The Woodville 'boom' is going right ahead, any amount of houses being built, and the preliminary survey of the gorge being pushed at both ends. Travellers as usual complain that they cannot get any explicit information re coaches between Tahoraite and Palraerston. From Palmerston to Woodville, there is a morning coach every day, and another midday coach said to run, twice a week. Cartage by Peebles and others at irregular intervals, £2 a ton. The timber for the pro posed bridge over the Mannwatu has been lying by the waterside for three years. When it goes up the coach fares may go down. Fancy 10s for 17 miles, and a big traffic 1 From Woodville to Tahoraite, you may say Fidwards starts at 9 o'clock ; Hambling at 9.15 ; fare ss. The Mail at 9.45 ; fare, 7s 6d. Then there is an afternoon coach, by Mr C. Birss. This meets the train that arrives from Napier late, returning the same night to Woodville. The above details are the result of protracted enquiries made on the spot ; but nobody seems to know anything, and it is a great pity the conches are not all duly advertised, or at any rate placarded m hotels."
