Elskwhere we publish a preliminary announcement m reference to the New Zealand Industrial Exhibition of 1 880. According to the o(!i~ cial progrumme the exhibition will bu opened on August 1, and closed on .October, 3l St. The exhibition wilLbe held m buildings specially adapted tor the purpose upon Lamb ton Quay, centrally situated m the city of Wellington, and will compiise two.sections, the general branch and the industrial home branch. All exhibits must be forwarded to the Secretary, to the exhibition, Wellington, thmu^h the local committee*, any time after the l*t May, and not later than the 30th June 1 after the lattor date nil vacant spaces become forfeited. The space alloted for the exhibition is only 48,0{)5 square feet,, including passages, &c.'," so that the greatest, economy will be required m its apportionment. The charge will be sixpence per square foot, the minimum charge for an exhibit will be five shillings; payment to he niado v on allotment of space. Piinted fotms aie provided for the allotnient of space, copies of which will be furnished to applicants by the local committees, or direct from the Secretary to' the exhibition, Wellington. All applications for .space niu^t be properly filled up, approved by the local committees, and be accepted by the Secretary, to insure reception of the exhibits. Each package must have two of the exhibition labels affixed to different but not opposite, sides, and must also bear a distinctive mnvk, such aa A.B. }, or A.B. •§, the letters being the initials of the exhibitor, the upper number representing the total number of packages sent by him, and the lower figure the particular number of the package. Each exhibitor is required to fill up and sign two forms of report for the judges. All expenses of transport, after exhibits are received by the local committees, will bo undertaken by the. Grovernment. An official catalogue and guide will be published at the open • ingot" exhibition. Gold, silver, .and bronze medals will W awarded to ex* hihiifl of especial merit. The Government will use eveiy endeavour to provide agaiust the loss or damage of the collections, but they will not hold themselves responsible for any damage 01 loan. Local committees will, at their discretion, accept vi tides for exhibition, subject co final revision by the Secretary, as space for exhibition is limited.
