Stevenson was charged with a breach of the Police Offences Act, by working bis horse and dray on Sunday. The evidence showed that he had been carting slaughtered sheep to the local refrigerating works, and that they would have been spoiled by the hea^ if not sent to the freezing chamber, on that day. The' magistrate dismissed the charge, considering the work • one of necessity.
