A Daring Exploit.

The first shot carried away some bowsprit ropes, but otherwise the vessel escaped unhurt, though she was exposed to the fire of the fort for nearly an hour. As each shot was fired the. British ensign was politely dip-, ped, the ladies remaining on' deck the whole time, apparently heartily enjoying the adventure.
